Establishing and changing game schedules -- Guidelines
Season DatesThe Spring Season typically consists of 8 matches, beginning on the Saturday closest to April 1 and ending on the weekend before Memorial Day. Memorial Day weekend may be used for rescheduled games. The Fall Season typically consists of 10 matches, beginning on the Saturday after Labor Day and ending on the weekend before Thanksgiving. Divisions. The playing league hosted by RedwoodSoccer is open to boys and girls at the Class 3 level, and in age group classifications U08 through U19. Where necessary, age divisions will be combined to optimize schedules and ensure sufficient competition. A Division is the combination of the PlayingLeague-Class-Gender-AgeLevel-Bracket. Divisions will have a minimum of 4 teams. Game DayMatches are scheduled by the home team on Saturdays or Sundays depending on home team field availability. All teams must be flexible to play on either day. Game TimesThe Home Team is responsible for scheduling the match, field and referees. Match times and locations must be posted on the league website no later than 7 days before the match. When to reschedule gamesManagers and coaches should contact their opponents as soon as possible in the season to identify games that need to be rescheduled. The earlier arrangements are made - the better. Reschedule requests made within the first two weeks of the season for games later in the season should be honored. Reschedule requests made 6 weeks prior to the scheduled date should be honored. All clubs and teams face similar problems in juggling field availability and referee scheduling. Recognize that for some clubs field allocations and referee scheduling is done early in the season for the entire season and is difficult to change. Asking to reschedule a game within 7 days of the agreed upon game date is unacceptable. The purpose of the league is for kids to play, and teams should try to accommodate requests to reschedule a game. Teams that abuse rescheduling games will be sanctioned by the League. Unplayed GamesIn Spring, failure to play will be scored a "No Game" and not a forfeit. ForfeitsA forfeit may be granted if a team is not ready to start play within 15 minutes of the scheduled game time with at least seven players and a coach with the necessary paperwork (player/coach passes). Details must be reported on the game card, signed by the referee, and mailed to the Scheduler. Forfeits are determined by the League (Executive Committee, Scheduler or Referee Coordinator), not by the referee, or other team. Referees abandon or terminate games. The League determines forfeits. Forfeited games can be considered a game not played, and can incur League sanctions. Visiting Teams That CancelVisiting teams that cancel or request a reschedule with less than 72 hours notice are responsible to reimburse the home team for the referee and field fees that would have been incurred for the game. |
